Thank you
I hope we are "awaiting the sequel" as you stated. I really liked this book and wanted some comeuppance to Dom!
But can Nat really just hang around at this point? A Russian spy disappears with another former intelligence worker last seen with Nat and Prue, cars rented and flights purchased by Prue...and Nat's just going to be left untouched?
Also, would Nat want Dom's spot?
I was also hoping for a few more twists and surprises. I can't say I saw all of this coming, but my mental model of what's going on didn't radically change very many times. Was hoping that Dom had even more nefarious plans in the works, had recruited Prue and/or Florence somehow without their knowledge etc.
If by "Russian spy" you mean Ed, you missed the point that Ed thought he was working with German agents. Ed despised Russia and Putin and would never be a Russian spy. He got played. Nat will be sure to explain this to his superiors. But I agree with your point about Nat's future. I don't really think he wants Dom's job other than payback. Smiley didn't really want the top job in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, but he ended up there as sort of a last resort. As for being left "untouched" I think that's exactly what is going to happen. Foreign Services are filled with incompetent agents and when you have a man who's just proved how effective he can be, you let a lot of things go. As for Dom, I'm not sure the man is bright enough to create nefarious plans! If readers are lucky, we'll discover the answers to all our question in a forthcoming book.
