This is a really great interpretation. I think it is a novel that has room for the literal reading and the metaphorical reading. It's been a few months since I've read it, and it's been on my mind ever since. I definitely think I got more clarity the more I thought about it.

I'm looking forward to more of Mona Awad's work.
I was hoping it was going to turn out to be a meta fiction also though by the end of the book I wasn't so sure. After reading your take on it maybe I think so again. If so, it's very subtle, which is all the better.
