THANK YOU! I feel very validated by the comment haha. I completely agree with you. Many flaws, but I couldn't stop reading so that's a good sign at least.
I’m not saying the book was perfect, but I do think that Pammie telling Adam all kinds of things about Emily was never an option. She knew exactly what Adam was capable of, and to make him think Emily had done something wrong would have very quickly put Emily in serious danger.
I wondered why Emily didn’t pick up on some of the red flags with Adam, and the way the book moves along without making a big deal of his controlling behaviour shows extremely well how subtle and gradual abusive behaviour can be. This is strength of the book, in my opinion.
