Jim hard to know, but in my opinion many of the books he plugs are just awful...

T.ScottReviews No financial gain. They are just getting ARC's then getting part of their opinion printed on or in the book, exactly like many of the normal reviewers here do. The only difference is authors often get the books sent from their own publisher and usually based on what they write rather than what they like.

Carol i did a bit of checking on the internet: one or the reasons authors "endorse" books is that it publicizes their own name,opening a possiblity of attracting reads...,

Carol yes..the bottom line is that name exposure likely brings cash results! That's another reason why I don't read books where well-established authors share their name on books, i.e., Oreilly. Patterson
