I think it was intentional to show that a) everyone has problems and b) Queenie was too deep into her own trauma to recognize that she was not the only imperfect one. I imagine if there were a sequel, Queenie would have been far enough into her healing that she would have the bandwidth to notice her friends’ issues and maybe help and support them as they had helped and supported her.
I didn't think the hints were subtle. There's tonnes of chatter from lots of people I know on the dating scene that decent partners are hard to find. :-) I think the presentation was more of a 'realistic one,' as in 'the landscape is bad out there.'
