Helen Paton Brian's The Godling Chronicles have become a very important part of my child's life. She came to me 8 years ago, with ASD, and SEB problems. She was 9, and had major issues, including violent behaviour. I started reading the 1st book in the series to her as part of her bedtime routine, and, as usual, she ignored me, turning her face to the wall.....until she mistook the heroine's name for her own, and she asked me to repeat that part of the story. The stories have actually had a positive influence on my child, as Brian's heroine reasons her way out of problems where possible. It's been a long ride, this last 3 years or so, but my K has learned to think instead of fight. She's 17 now, and I still read these books to her most nights. In her mind, she IS Kaylia. :-)
