I really really think that's the whole point. Their lives' problems are not gonna solve magically cause they're in love. They're always gonna be on and off cause they can't live without each other, but they hurt each other. Each of them must work on themselves in order to be able to construct a more healthy relationship together, and I really hope they do so eventually.
