Al "Lash" LaRue did have his name spelled two or three different ways, including La Rue, in his various movie credits. According to IMDb, he was born Reu Alfred Wilson.
Also, that TV series was "Range Rider," starring Jock Mahoney, who also had his name spelled several different ways, and Dick (formerly Dickie) Jones. Both were not only fine actors, but first-class stunt men.
My vague memory of "The Range Rider" was that Jock Mahoney was very physical as the character, so I don't doubt that he was a stuntman.
