It’s arguably worse. Her online bio says she spent most of summers as a youth in the mountains of North Carolina. My guess is that nostalgia Ltd her to use Asheville, without realizing it would distract readers.
It may be either a clue or a red herring for readers of I am the Cheese who suspect that Kya thinks she’s in the marsh when she’s really in an asylum near Asheville, like Robert Cormier’s Adam Farmer.
