no i didn’t actually know that. thanks for informing me. I wrongly assumed the author was just picking the most complicated names for the sake of YA but that’s good to know!

Most of them are Dutch names/variants of Dutch names, actually! I think the S&B trilogy had Russian names (though I never read that.) But Ketterdam is based on 17th/18th-century Amsterdam :)

I don't know what you're implying, that theses aren't conventional American names (assuming you're American here)
