I would disagree with the last part of this answer. Right near the end Darius basically says he has more to talk to his dad about in the future regarding boys. It's intentionally sorta ambiguous, but in the interview with the author included in the version I read he points out that it's not thaaaat ambiguous, at least for Darius himself.
