ARIF MOTIWALA I agree with all comments referenced to Asheville. I don't get it. This author is so well versed on marshes, lagoons, etc., one would think she will be knowledgeable of NC geography. As I was reading it occurred to me why go shopping to Asheville. I have been to Asheville many times and absolutely love it. But it is far too far from the NC Coast. I have spent sometime in the coastal parts of North Carolina (Swan Quarters, an example) and there are many larger cities much closer than Asheville to the Coast. Someone mentioned Charlotte. Again, as I said, I don't get it. And, Asheville in the time frame of the novel was not what it is today.
