I saw the ending completely different. I thouhgt justice was served, nature style.
I'm with you, Lisa. This was thought-out, cold-blooded murder, really. I would much have preferred self-defense ... but why/how would they have gotten up on that tower together?
I am with you in that I would have liked a chapter that went through what happened that night. It still could have come after she died, like the way the author revealed that Kya had done it. However, I think she did it b/c of what her mother endured until she left. Kya wanted to take matters into her own hands. She knew that Chase wouldn't stop.
Well, it was self-defense, in my opinion. She had no one to defend her. So she had to defend herself. He was after her. She couldn't go to the authorities. They'd never believe her. She was as low-class as African Americans during that period of time. I believe the author mentioned what would happen if an African American woman accused a white male of rape. (less)
I agree with Jen, and everyone who felt she did it in self-defense. Only wish, like other said there had been a full chapter telling us what happened, and like someone else said that could have still been in the same place in the book.
I agree with Rachel and Jen. It WAS self-defense. I have a hard time seeing it otherwise, given how he repeatedly threatened her!
