Jessica Unsure how different the tv show is vs the books, but...in the show claire threatens him with a knife and says she will cut his heart out and eat it if he lays another hand on her. He also spanked her with a belt instead of whipping. So that definitely made a difference for me. She did wander off and put people in danger. However, I feel like there is a lot of rape in the series. I do understand it is a power move for men, especially back in the 1700's. However, it seems to have happened to almost all of the family members by book 6. Jaime, Briana, Claire. Not that is a rape promoting book, but just from a creative aspect it is a little repetitive imo.

Yvonne Aburrow She doesn’t do that in the book. And belt, tawse, whip: still a non-consensual thrashing.

With the rape, the issue for me was the constant marital rape.
