No, that was not Tate's father. That was Tim O'Neil. Tate's dad was Scupper.
Right, Lee Ann. The fisherman who testified for her was captain of the vessel upon which the other fellow who testified for the prosecution worked.
I agree. I thought it was Jumpin. He thought of her as a daughter and knew exactly what happened to her when she showed up with bruises. When it wasn't revealed through the trial, I had an inkling she did it. I was cheering with a lump in my throat at the end.
I swore it was gonna be Jumpin' and that Mabel would have found the shell necklace with his belongings when he passed!
Valerie Graham. "When it wasn't revealed through the trial, I had an inkling she did it. I was cheering with a lump in my throat at the end"
YES
I knew it couldn't have been anyone who cared about her because they never would've allowed her to take the blame. I did think it was just some random person, or an accident. I didn't think it was her.
I thought it was Tate who pushed him. That he found out about Chase's attempted rape and stalking. After all, it was his red hat that the fibers came from. I was totally surprised in the end, when Tate found the necklace and poem hidden under the carpet by the fireplace. I guess she knew Chase would never leave her alone.
At one point I thought it could have been the sheriff. He clearly did a shoddy job with the investigation, and he kept blowing off anything Joe said or questioned. I thought maybe he had a wife with whom Chase had an affair. Who better to blame than The Marsh Girl? It wasn't until she said she wouldn't plead guilty (she never said she was innocent) that I knew it had to have been her. I loved the ending and how Tate destroyed everything to protect the love of his life, even after she was gone.
Tate's father was not the fisherman who testified. That was Tim O'Neal, another old fisherman. You might remember that Scupper, Tate's dad, did not watch the court proceedings until later on in the case, when he realized he should go there to support Tate.
