At Yangjin's funeral, he beats up a random sex worker so brutally that it's implied her face is permanently disfigured.
She was in the car waiting for him during the funeral and she insisted that his driver should go inside and fetch him because of "an emergency" which turned out to be just that she wanted to go shopping. He had just sort of proposed to Sunja (he tells her that his wife has died and says something like "I thought maybe you would marry me now" and she rejects him and then bursts into tears and everyone thinks it's because she's mourning her mother). So he's upset about Sunja, hypothetically the funeral + Sunja are reminding him of Noa's death, & he's upset that this girl thought it was her right to pull him from a funeral to go shopping. He's also questioning his decisions in life. He takes it out on the girl.
OMG! Thank you for recalling the incident for me. I remember it clearly now (it only takes a little prodding.)
Frankly, don't think there was anything that we'd seen in his character prior to this that explained this violence. I wondered if it was a hint that he was not "one of the good" Pachinka owners (I.E. was a Yak)
