Yes, or possibly the anniversary of when they got the kids, meaning that the husband was in on it the whole time.
No, read the dates of the chapters. The book only covers Dec 2016 to the spring of 2017. It can't be an annual remembrance if it took place in the book's timeline. It would have to be a mensiversary, or 1 month.
