Good Question. Because when I read the Vanishing Girl and was left hanging for over a year, it gave you a reputation of an author you can't depend on.
Different authors release at different rates, whether because of something dependent on them or on others. Some wait 18 months to 2 years between books, which is why I only start series when I know the entire set is out and I won't be left hanging. It is what it is, and I think it's good to know ahead of time rather than be upset with the creative mind behind the story.
That's for sure. Definitely learned my lesson.
