Bikram That's disappointing. :(

Emily According to Mary Robinette Kowal, Tor pulled The Calculating Stars from this program. https://twitter.com/MaryRobinette/sta...

However, it seems like the libraries still don't have it. Mine, Los Angeles Public Library doesn't have it.

Go figure.

Andrea I hope TOR realizes that for some people libraries are the only possible source for reading. They are quite literally discriminating against those in lower socioeconomic position. Libraries purchase a limited number of copies, and new releases take months to trickle down to your position in queue anyway, so anyone impatient to read the book will go and buy it anyway. How is 4 month hold going to affect their sales?

pml The Calculating Stars and sequel, The Fated Sky, have been released on two local library Overdrive sites!
Though I did not regain my hold spot on the Calculating Stars, nor receive any notification of its reappearance (despite having originally requested it).

note: Tor is part of Macmillan

Loren Michael It sort of seems to me that book publishers have never liked the idea of libraries lending their books for free, and are just using eBooks as an opportunity to cut libraries off.
