Ha! Thank you for this explanation or possibilities i guess! Makes a lot of sense and could be!!! Wow, what a ride that was! ❤️
I don't care about the last twist and like others have decided to ignore it. I think it hurts an otherwise good book because several elements are too fantastical (Claire surviving, Edward getting the bracelet, Madeleine being tried without motive).
I agree with your assessment of Claire and think Amber had a weak, narcissistic mind. There really is no escaping Claire other than killing her, but Amber shows herself to be a monster by framing her Madeleine for the murders (Madeleine's supposed motive is unexplained and this too is a flaw in the book because her murdering Claire makes no sense). Yes, weak Amber may have felt like she had no choice but to harm Madeleine's career as Claire wanted, but she mostly excuses her behavior and the enjoyment she gets from that as all narcissists would.
And yes, two peas in a pod.
I’ll add to that good explanation …. that one of the children says “mummy”, Amber thought she was referring to her but maybe they saw Claire??
