Vanessa Junkin I've continued thinking about it, and at one point when Paul started the fire in the fireplace, he sounded like he realized that it affected Amber. I listened to the book, so I'm not sure of the exact phrasing, but he started an unfinished sentence relating to the fire and how it would relate back to Amber's life/why it would trouble her. Did he know what happened? I didn't think he'd read the diaries, but maybe he did. I wonder if maybe it was the anniversary of Claire's parents dying/ Claire and Amber becoming sisters??

Tanya I think it was the anniversary of her beginning that PA job at “Morning Coffee.” It is mentioned in a 12/19/16 entry that Amber joined her team 6 months ago and “things are not going according to plan.” The final entry is in Spring, and that would be about a year after the plan to bring down Madeline started.

Marti Young Which would make more sense, Tanya, (don't you think?) if this Amber was actually Claire, bc Claire hated Madeliene so much? Also, the "three things" is in line with Claire's diaries. I don't know

Joan The letter Amber writes as Madeline makes it sound like Madeline could have been responsible for the fire that killed claire's parents. Could that be the murder she is on trial for?

Marti Young Honestly I have no idea. You have to give the author credit. We are definitely talking about this book!!
