Thank you Karen. He was a light in the world. My best friend for more than 20 years. My Man of Honor at my wedding (scandalous in 1992.) The person responsible for many of the best moments of my life and almost all of my worst. Mental illness is unspeakably cruel.
That just about broke my heart, reading David's rejection of her. And Bonnie, your explanation is spot-on and also heartbreaking...thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Kim. Mental illness touches so many of us, and there are so many heartbreaking stories like the one in the book. I am so impressed with Sedaris for bringing this into the light.
Right? He didn't look good in that chapter but didn't hide it.
