Konstantinos Georgokitsos Holy ...! Really?! I'm writing a reminder right now, to ask you in a month AND two.

Mikael Sneaky! You totally DID comment on that :)

Charles Stross On second thoughts, I can say that Netflix won't be doing a series based on the Laundry files.

The second half of the question ... the books were optioned circa 2007-09 by an American company but nothing came of it. Since then, there have been a lot of discussions over the years.

Dave Hopefully whatever happens will be better than http://okbjgm.weebly.com/uploads/3/1/...

Michael Bourgon What the heck?!?! The guy from The Middleman did a whack at Atrocity Archives? Definitely need to read. Thanks!

David I got 7 pages into that screenplay. Didn't care for it.

message 8: by Michael (new)

Michael Bourgon Finished it, but yeah. There's a lot of choices in there I Did Not Like, and I'm a fan of JGM. Mhari was as expected, but Mo wasn't Mo. and.... yeah. Not a fan.

Ian I've had the pleasure of working on three Netflix shows and I really appreciate their approach.

Charles Stross MB: you might want to reconsider whether Mhari is Mhari-as-expected after "The Labyrinth Index" is out—it's her novel!

(And I'm still waiting on paperwork, so still can't answer the original question yet.)

message 11: by Michael (new)

Michael Bourgon Heh. More commenting on JGM's characterizations more than anything else. And looking forward to you getting the paperwork - and hopefully some "shut the muse in a footlocker" money for it.

Ray Central image for me is that the Laundry is "Smiley's" world gone "batshit". A Chinese laundry in Chinatown America. Seriously. Resist! Resist the Baleful ones of Hollywood Mr Stross.

message 13: by Michael (new)

Michael Bourgon So, OGH... any more news? Thanks, sir!

message 14: by Charles (new)

Charles Stross Whoops, missed this comment: yes, the Laundry Files has been optioned for TV by a British production company with a track record doing drama for Channel 4. No news as yet (it's been about a year)—this stuff takes time!

David Keeping fingers crossed that their interpretation is a good one.
