I agree on waiting a bit. This book grows on you, as do the characters. Interesting commentary on how we achieve success and view it in ourselves and others.
I read The Lincoln Highway a little while ago and really liked it too. Again, it is very different from his other books. Well written, great character development, but my only complaint is I wanted to slap all of the characters and tell them, "Don't do it." Worth the read though.
