Great advice Heidi! Look at this quote from J K Rowling's book Very Good Lives (speech to Harvard students):
Imagination is the 2nd important focus- much more than a source of innovation and invention. Rather, at its most transformative, imagination is the power that enables humans to empathize with others whose experiences we have never shared. Unlike other creatures, humans can learn and understand from each other without having experienced the same. Some refuse not to exercise their imagination, but rather live comfortably in their own world. However, Rowling argues that those who live in narrow places develop a mental agoraphobia, being more afraid and thus enable real monsters. Even without ever committing an act of evil, we collide with it through our own apathy.
