I thought the anniversary was the anniversary of getting the kids. We know that significant time has passed because the puppy is now a dog, the kids are now old enough to play alone on a beach, and Madeleine is going to trial (which takes forever.) So I think it's a year after they legally got custody of the kids.
Except that they get the kids in February 2017 and this is set in "spring" of 2017.
Maybe it was an anniversary of their first date, first "relations" or even their marriage?

So after that little revelation, I feel like I need to re read the last chapter. LOL I'm intrigued about this anniversary that pulls Paul into it all. The bracelet, no clue.
