Abhinav Athreya I would say this book is ideal for anyone above 13 years of age.

Liz I think a slightly younger child (age 9 or 10) who is academically inclined could read it, but would recommend adult support and guidance, talking about it together, etc. A teen would have less difficulty but it might still be a good idea if that teen could talk things over with an adult. :)

Barbara Bryner The Young Reader's Edition, written with Patricia McCormick, is suitable for middle school ages up. The original, written with Christina Lamb, is more appropriate for adults willing and able to go into depth with the history of the area and Malala's own family history. I enjoyed both versions.

Barbara Bryner Perhaps "enjoyed" is not the correct term. I learned a lot from reading both versions and comparing them for use with different audiences.
