Agreed. I was actually quite upset that this wasn't grounded in reality. The moment it left the plain of reality I was actually angry at the novel.
I absolutely loved the book but had the same issue with it. I am just not able to suspend reality to that point. I was reading the out of body stuff just waiting for the logical explanation. I was so sure that the e-cig that Adele gave Louise was some kind of narcotic! That would have been a great twist.
I was also annoyed that it was the explanation for Adele hearing everything. Couldn't she just have bugged the place like a normal psychopath?
