Thank you. You are right with everything. Just, I don't think my future book gets to NY, because I'm not from the US. I'm from Argentina, and as much as I love English, I don't rely on it to write fiction (but I do for everything else). And I don't really use social media, so that's not a distraction for me. Just this stats and possibilities that tell me I'm a loser all the time. I'm not scared of hard work. Just of pointless hard work
You're looking at it all wrong, Cintia. Do you know who the most successful authors are? It's not the best authors, the ones with the most talent, lyrical prose, or ability to craft a story. It's the authors who never give up. That's it, the entire secret of success to becoming a successful author.
It is discouraging. I know from firsthand experience exactly how discouraging it can be: I've been a professional, full-time writer for four years now, and believe me, no matter how good you are, you will always have doubts. Don't let them get you down, though. Don't give in to them. You can do it, but only if you believe in yourself and your writing.
There are many ways to be a professional writer first of all. If one way isn't working for the moment try another way for a while. Second, I read between 50-100 books every year but there are millions I will simply never have the time to read. That's a whole lot of books that got published. Don't look at it as only 96% get published. Look at it as millions of books DO get published.
