Sharla Haha! I like your logic twice_baked. Still I feel like at this point it's up in the air. I feel it could go either way. She may have meant that she's going to write it the way it's supposed to be written in that she actually develops Batty and Jeffrey's relationship in a way that's believable. Laurie and Amy weren't believable since we didn't get to see them interact when they're older. Maybe we'll see Batty and Jeffrey in a new light in this book?

Personally though, I am rooting for Skye and Jeffrey. I can't wait to find out how it all ends. What if Jeffrey doesn't get married to anybody and the wedding is Rosalind and Tommy's?

mairiachi That would definitely be a good side to a story that doesn't make Skeffery official! ;) And I don't know if you could ever make Laurie and Amy believeable - he was 20 and she was 16! (...if I remember correctly.) But it could be that Birdsall makes it more believeable. I want Batty to get together with Henry in her class. And Keiko could get Vasudev! :D That's a really good point that I hadn't thought about though, that Laurie and Amy didn't really interact at all and then BAM he brings her home as his wife. That was very unsatisfactory. I could see this working out much better because of the character development. Still, I want Skye and Jeffrey to get together in the next book. Are you wanting Jeffrey to be a single pringle or is this hypothesis? Don't jinx anything! Skye will be 26 in the next book, I want her to be getting married and Rosalind should already be married (she'll be 28 already!) and I'm very curious to see where Aunt Claire will have ended up <:) I also want to know your thoughts: if Jo, 20, ended up with Mr. Bhaer, 40, who would Skye end up with? (scary image)

Sharla I definitely feel like Rosalind will be married already, like you said she's 28 and the way Birdsall left the last book kind of implied that they would be married soon. That would be weird if they waited that long. I do NOT want Jeffrey to be a single pringle haha! That was just a hypothesis, I think that he and Skye should get married. They are best friends and they complement each other's personalities really well.

I wonder if Jane will be married or dating someone? There haven't been any characters who necessarily seemed like they'd be a good match. I'm kind of curious about what she'll be doing.

mairiachi I wonder that, too. She'll probably either be dead single or she'll be dating someone but I really can't see Jane either engaged or married. She's kind of too flighty for that. I'm wondering if it's going to be one of the guys who's always hanging around at her house, I think there's one they grew up with (an Albert or something like that), he might be one. But I really just see her as single and writing books. If you think about it, in Little Women, Beth doesn't ever get married (you know why, and I don't want to spoil it for anyone) so if Jane is supposed to be Beth, I doubt she'll get married - at least not in the book. It might just be implied.

I think at least one of her books will be published, and her Sabrina Starr books won't ever get published but she'll have them on a shelf in her study or something and be like yeah that was the beginning of my career etc. :P

Sharla Haha so true! Yeah I couldn't picture her married. I wonder what type of book she'll have published! I'm so excited to read this next book!!! I have so many questions that need answering. I wonder if Birdsall will write another series after this?

mairiachi I hope she'll keep writing, just not keep writing the Penderwicks. There's something about a series that's more than, like, three books long, that always turns me off. Thankfully she decided before she even started writing the books that she would write five, so I'm glad it's not based off of "well this was popular so of course I have to crank out a million more". :) I know, I cannot wait for this one! The title is really good for a last book. It better sum everything up.
