But would you say the same of a human raised in captivity/slavery who never rebelled? that they lacked free will and were therefore not human? I think the book/movie tried to depict that they did love and have hopes and dreams (even silly ones) and were as human as anyone else... I think she says poor creatures because she recognizes that they were created and assigned sad fates because they were assumed not to be human when in fact they were (thus why all the clone school were closing as they were seen as more unethical but still a few remained for the rich and powerful of course bcause money > morality
