I believe that Diane is referring to piece spelled “peices” in the letter to F Scott Fitzgerald which you have as part of your author bio.
OHHHH! You are so right! Yes, it is a direct quote from the letter. Silly me! (Perhaps I should put "sic" in - but Fitzgerald did not.)
also, "stationary" is misspelled too, in case you did not notice.
