I love that your answer completely ... answers everything. I remember reading this and thinking the same thing (in english class) and I asked my teacher and we all tried to come up with a theory all together. Basically we cant see from their eyes. We can never really imagine what Kathy and Tommy and Ruth were going through.
I am Japanese and wondered lots of things while reading this book; why no one takes off especially when they got to the cottage; why there is not a single naughty kid who wants to sneak in the Sale van and hitch a ride to outside school just to see; why not growing specific organs they need if the technologies are as advanced as growing full human clones; what happens if the clones comitt a crime and leave their DNA evidence behind; why they don't go full eugenics if their society's moral is as questionable as to grow full human clones and kill them to harvest organs on a massive scale, and so on.
I'm just saying.
Do you have a link to the movie director's interview? I'd be really interested to see it :)
