I thought that was the part about the horcrux/HP reference when Vic and Lou made it to the sleigh house
The off-page death bothered me too. I felt a little cheated after investing time and interest in these characters.
It bothered me that Lou married the person who pretty much was the cause for Vic and her dad being killed and almost stopped Wayne from being rescued.
I never read a book where the main character dies and her second most dangerous enemy ends up as the step mom to her kid and it’s regarded as a good ending. Awful.
