Grace I know this is from 3 years ago but I disagree with your claim. I think that the relationships play a big but in the story and the character development.
Oh, I just genuinely hated this book and thought it did a horrid job of talking about school shootings in general and the focus on relationships and dating in it was aggravating at worst and barely important at best.
