Really? Did she die?
There's no way she survived. She was too meager and sick.
This could have been a bit more obvious. Or perhaps it was to a Korean audience? Maybe a sort of symbolism we don't get in the West with the bird?
Bird symbolism is known in the West as well, Matthew :)
The ending is quite clear. The black bird compares with white bird In-Hye's son saw in his dream, when she's gone up the mountain to attempt suicide. I was surprised people have been confused.
