This is exactly what I thought. That one line: "Amber made me do it" tells me that maybe Amber is way more manipulative and evil than the book leads you to believe. Perhaps Amber was even writing the diaries as Claire! There seemed to be a lot of instances of her pinning things on other people, and the comment about how easy it was for her to write letters in Madeline's handwriting. There were so many sneaky sentences that had me very confused to the end.
The author wants you to be confused. Concentrate on the clue "Amber made me do it," and the title of the book "Sometimes I lie." Sometimes I lie tells us that we really cannot believe anything; Amber made me do it tells us that Taylor doesn't accept responsibility for anything that happens - or happens only in her mind. The book is designed to drive readers crazy trying to determine truth from lies when you have no basis to believe anything.
Very good Sunnie. So you think the nut bag sisters are both still alive and Amber is lying about killing her?
I think so! At the end she said her sister died in a fire and then said, “sometimes I lie.” Somehow Claire didn’t burn in the fire and, remember that when she was in bed suffering froze the poisoned meal, she “looked” at Amber.
Also, when Claire last visited Amber in the hospital in a NOW segment I remember Amber saying that Claire left the room and the bracelet was gone, too.
She said her sister died in a tragic accident and then said sometimes I lie. Obviously, it wasn’t an accident.
I chose to not acknowledge that last sentence in order to "keep my sanity". Otherwise to me, I cannot tell if the entire story was a total lie. Claire is good/bad? Amber is good/bad? Perhaps if we "believe" that last sentence, then maybe one of the twins concocted the murder of all these people. I mean honestly, what a stupid ending!
