Ginger took her five year-sister Patsy with her when she fled her stepfather's home. Since they could not return to Florida, she and Marshall escaped to Florida... he said he had a "friend in Cocoa who owed him a favor." The friend was Simon, whom he had helped double-cross Samuel in their bootleg situation with the Ashley Gang. So Marshall brought Ginger and Patsy to Simon and Virginia's house in Florida.
