Exactly my take too! There's no schizophrenia going on. Rose had no "best friends." Remember the catty Helen and Dotty from the boarding house? So, when Odalie arrives as the other typist, and everyone, including Rose, is so taken with her beauty and comportment, Rose is hoping that they could be best friends/bosom buddies. She is disappointed that Odalie seemed to befriend Iris and Marie before turning her attention to Rose. Perhaps Rose appeared more "needy" to Odalie, who, we find out later, clearly has a propensity to take advantage of those who are "weaker" than she is. I totally agree that Odalie/Genevra had the wherewithal to erase Rose's past. She then befriends Rose, who remains totally devoted to "protecting" her, including correcting her typo's and buying in on the fake confession of Edgar Vitalli. Odalie/Ginevra is a total psychopath.
Exactly! This is how I read it and I'm stunned to read others take about schizophrenia, there is no schizophrenia. And I agree, Odalie/Ginevra is a total psychopath!
