This. 100% this. Those bloody characters lead the writer, not the other way around. And yes, I am one of those who couldn't see it ending any other way, but it was a good question and a great answer.
I have to admit that, even if it was shocking at first, giving it more and more thought i realized it was the perfect ending. Perfect !
