I found this book very confusing!!
I believe the last page implies that Sean pushed her off the edge with Patrick taking the blame to protect him.
Sean. Patrick took the blame. However, it was confusing who he thought he was taking the blame for, Sean or Helen.
Yes, last sentence of the book. "With my hands in the small of Nel's back, I pushed her away." It was confusing.
Was Sean CONSCIOUSLY aware of pushing Nel, or was he so absorbed in his recollection of his mother that he pushed against Nel, believing it was his mother, or was he evil enough to be fully aware of his doings and pushed her on purpose. Please, someone just tell me!!
