I agree with this answer. It wasn't directly stated (that would given away too much too early, I think) but it wasn't difficult to put together either.
I agree with this as well. I think it's the most plausible explanation, even though it's never stated clearly.
And Helen was on the floor looking for it when Erin came to talk to her in her school office.
Mark didn't know it was there. He found it when he was looking for something else.
I have trouble buying the explanation that you casually left behind something that you treasured and wore every day. She would not have just left without it and not notice it missing.
