Elyse I think David leaves it there because it's Benji's dad's grave and David knows Benji goes out there. And the saying on the puck is for David knowing Benji is gay.

Wendy E. Because he always hopes the that Benji will come back and play for him. It says that in the book.

Jaye What would stop him barring death? Of course one could argue he grew deeper attachment to another Coach.. but if he is still alive and ten years later went pro he clearly would not have turned away from hockey
