This theory makes sense too...guess we will never know for sure....and I don't care really. This is one book I am glad is over and done with! My head hurts after finishing it!
I don't think Sean took it off Nel's wrist. She probably took it off when they were there at the cottage. Erin's point that the bracelet hadn't been broken by Patrick (who took the blame) when he supposedly pushed her seemed odd to Erin. And we find out why when at the end we learn Sean pushed her.
We only can speculate on how the bracelet came off Nel's wrist at the cottage. (Since it wasn't broken, my take is it slid off. Here's why: we were told to the effect that Nel never takes it off, so it seems unlikely to me that she'd remove it or allow Sean to — I can't think of any reason either of them would want to — while rendezvousing.) But, yes, Helen found it in the car that Patrick had borrowed.
