The thing about the father who lost his son is around page 100 so he's definitly read more than the first 30 pages.

Except he gets the point of that story (and the details) wrong. It's like he just skimmed up to that point and quit.

I have to agree. He could not have finished the part when they man talks about his son's death. He was very compassionate and realized he was not sure how to handle this kind of grief. Furthermore, spoiler alert him getting busted for pot was not the worst thing to happen to him. If you are going to review, please read the entire book instead of passing judgement on a partial read. A lot of authors' careers have been destroyed by people reviewing with partial reads.

Hello everyone, I would like to buy this book as a gift for someone, but this person recently lost a family member. Would it be inappropriate to give this to him, knowing that there is this part about the son's death? I haven't read the book myself, so not too sure...

If obviously depends on the mentality of that person right now and just in general as well. If you think that person will be more positively than negatively affected by this book in terms of getting over the recent tragic event than by all means do it.

Mr. Rex seems to really dislike the author, since his comment it's clearly an ad-hominem fallacy. The book, regardless of who wrote it, covers truths about life that are hard to swallow. It does not invite the reader to become a follower of any kind of self-help trend. Now, I wouldn't recommend this book for someone who's going through grief. Mourning is a necessary phase when you experience the loss of someone you love. No book can help overcome that process. Just love and patience from the people who care.

A: He's not a comedian. And B: he didn't tell the dad to shake it off he said 'sorry for your loss'. It's fine to critize but at least get your facts straight.
