It's the best advice to be given in my opinion. When i write every day (even if it is just little things) it helps me a huge amount and I find myself improving a lot.
I totally agree with staying faithful to the stories in your head. My novel is shocking because I wrote the story that had to be told, and didn't flinch when it came to the tough stuff. I loved The Girl on the Train, and I have Into The Water on my To Read shelf!
