In the book it was supposed - yet never confirmed - that perhaps Abel went into the thrall upon losing his mate, and it was a question by Fen which seemed to still him in the midst of battle. If that truly is the case, I was wondering if perhaps, prior to getting fangy, Abel did have a mate and/or children with that mate.
I pity any children that any Carpathian male may have had before turning vampire...poor Zacarias, and his noble siblings.
