Its actuallly said in the last chapter, that the last remaining guard saved her.

It was a bit confusing because it reads like it refers to the 2nd to last guard (the last one metioned previously), but it doesn't if you don't imply stuff into it (or count the guards who died - all 5 deaths are in the previous chapter) :)
