I think that is lame, and I'm an American. We do have British English dictionaries to utilize, and I enjoy learning how English is spoken in other countries, especially Australia, South Africa, and the many dialects of the UK. Publishers aren't doing anyone any favors by essentially playing editor of an author's work.
