She used it twice and I think she did it on purpose to be funny. It made my eye twitch.
The 28% I read needed an editor in a bad way! That was just one part that rubbed me the wrong way. I am pissed I spent money on it, to be honest!
Jess, this review is HILARIOUS! Someone let me borrow the book. I'm going to read it to see how it makes me feel. Perhaps, you can White Elephant it to some one--lol.
I bought the book on Kindle - it was highly recommended; but obviously those people gave zero fucks about grammar. I deleted the book from my device and have never looked back. It was terrible. Joke or not; I could not take her seriously, It was horrible.
I am pretty sure that Jen Sincero knows that the word is "real" and not "rill." She writes very informally, kind of using a dialect and irreverent humor. I thought it made a heady and heavy topic accessible. And I am a grammar NAZI!
I personally enjoy when people spell words wrong or are not grammatically correct. Life and reading is more interesting that way
In my edition, Nikola Tesla was written as 'Nokola Tesla'... I was seriously annoyed about such mistakes, too.
Ugh...I'm about 40% in and ready to dump it. There is a huge difference between writing informally and just incorrectly. You can use (sic) to illustrate but it is utter laziness and lack of respect for the reader not to.
